Remember This? Friday

In my search for the anti-Barbie to get my girls for Christmas, I had this flashback of the Sunshine Family. This was another of Heidi's toys with which I was seldom allowed to play until she got a bit older and stashed them in the attic where I would sneak up to play. (And why is it that Heidi had all the cool toys....hmmmm?!) There was a mom and a baby and a dad and I think a grandma. I actually got a lot of dolls off of ebay to give the girls for Christmas but the poor dad in my lot is naked. The highlight of the Sunshine Family was the farm set Heidi had. The chicken actually laid eggs and the little pump actually pumped water. That chicken had to be the funnest thing going.

I still have my Sunshine Family! I never had the farm set, but I did have the baby girl (I think she was advertised as an adopted member of the family). I loved the babies, and I enjoyed the craft directions that came with every set of clothes. I think I made everything. It was all about recycling odds and ends to make stuff for your dolls.

Did you buy any chance stumble across the "Only Hearts Club" dolls? Target sells them. They have soft bodies and look/dress like little girls rather than, well, Barbie...

Oh yes, Laura! Each of my girls is getting one for Christmas. My search for old Sunshine Family dolls actually led me to the Only Hearts Club dolls - so cute and so...unBarbie! lol Thanks for stopping by Laura! I really enjoyed your blog.

Hi Joan! Long time no "see"! Thanks for stopping by! We never got extra clothes I don't think - we were too enamored with the chicken!

my Sunshine Family had a pottery wheel, and I made my baby's crib from and empty strawberry container and ribbon.
